“Don’t you ever get tired of pretending?”
The voice next to him brought Yunho out of his thoughts and back to reality. The ride back to Seoul on the rickety bus was taking longer than he’d anticipated and he could already feel an ache in his back from the jumps and abrupt stops. The brunette looked to his right and asked, “Pretending?”
Jaejoong stared back at him with a tense look on his face. Yunho had always been good at reading people, one of his many talents, but for whatever reason, Jae had remained a mystery to him. He was always wondering what he was going to say or do next, and that both scared and excited him more than he’d like to admit. “All day, everyday. You’re U-know, leader of DBSK. Telling us where to sit, how to smile, and when to speak.” Jae’s gaze dropped from the singer’s eyes to his lips, his tongue darting out to wet his own. Yunho hated when he did that.
“I’m not pretending. I’m just being who I am.” Yunho gave an agitated shrug at that and turned back toward the driver a few seats ahead of them. He could still feel Jae’s eyes on him, burning holes into his arms, neck, and whatever else they were roaming over right now. Yunho knew he should say something to him right then - or at any point really. It’s not like he didn’t have an opportunity to tell the boy to stop looking at him as if he were a piece of meat at least once a day.
After a few more moments of silence, Jae let out a long sigh and turned his head so that it was facing away from the leader when he whispered, “Makes me wonder what else you’re pretending about.”
